Why is Hyaluronic Acid so important for maintaining healthy skin?

First of all, don’t let the word ‘acid’ fool you, hyaluronic acid is NOT drying or stripping to the skin – in fact it is the complete opposite.

Hyaluronic acid is a proven humectant (moisture magnet) this means that it attracts water like a magnet and is capable of holding 1000 times its own weight in water making your skin look more hydrated, plump and glowing.

Although Hyaluronic acid has moisturising abilities, there is a difference between a moisturiser and a hydrator (Hyaluronic acid serum) e.g. a hydrator will quickly absorb and attract water to the skin, a hydrator is also perfect for any skin type or concern and is non comedogenic (excellent for oily skin, as its typically dehydrated).

Additional benefits include skin looking fuller and more vibrant, Hyaluronic acid also has the ability to draw moisturisers into the deeper layers of the skin.

A moisturiser acts like a barrier, but key ingredients nourish the surface of the skin.

As we age moisture levels drop significantly due to the slowed down production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid (yes, we all have hyaluronic acid naturally in our bodies) Hyaluronic acid is also beneficial for keeping the elastin in your skin more active.

You only need to apply a couple drops of hydrator to your skin to cover your whole face, its non sticky texture will quickly absorb leaving your skin feeling non-oily but hydrated. You can use it on its own (great if you like a lightweight feel) or apply a moisturiser over the top.

Serums that only cost a couple of pounds from the high street, will of course say that they contain hyaluronic acid but actually its very likely there is only about 0.01% in it and will just sit on top of the skin without penetrating. It’s worth going for the real deal.
